ANNUAL CHARITY BALL

"In 1973 we wanted to do something special to celebrate being at Monte Cristo for 10 years so decided to hold a Victorian period ball. We only intended to hold the one, but as all the guests were leaving they booked for the next year, so this year we will host the 31st ball.

In that time we have outlasted 3 orchestra's, and many of our guests have passed on. Our guests come from all states of the Australia. Last year one of our guests even flew out from America to attend.
One year a Dr. Jackson and his wife were in Cairns on holidays when the ball was on. They flew down to attend then returned to Cairns to finish their holiday.

The ball is held on the second Saturday in September to coincide with the first time I saw Monte Cristo.
The proceeds of the ball are donated to charity (usually a children's charity).

The night starts off with sherries and savouries at 7.30pm and at 8.00pm the guests sit down to a 2 course dinner. The official opening of the ball takes place at 9.00pm.

Victorian style period evening dress is required."

$135.00 per double. Price Includes Entrance to Ball and meals at Ball. 10.30am brunch the following day at homestead.

The Chairty Ball is extremely popular. All interested parties are placed on a waiting list. Unfortunately the Ryan's cannot guarantee an invitation but will include all on a guest list.
